Massive Element
Massive elements are, as the name indicates elements that are produced from solid laminated timber. Building with massive elements is a good alternative to the more traditional building methods and is often described as building components of the future. The development of massive elements is a result of increasing concern for the environment together with high interest for the most natural building material - Wood.
Wood has a positive effect on the indoor climate as well as on the environment.
Three different properties are considered in the evaluation of the strength of
glulam: bending, tension and compression strength.
Tensile strength - The tensile strength is the necessary force to tear the beam.
Compression strength - The pressure strength is the necessary force to crush the
beam
Bending strength - The bending strength is the necessary force to break the
beam when it is bent
